In celebration of 150 years of racing at the Saratoga Race Course, we have chosen to depict the famous thoroughbred, Secretariat. Winning 16 of his 21 races, he was named Horse of the Year for 1972 and 1973. In winning all three 1973 Triple Crown races-the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes-he set winning speed records that still stand to this day. Charismatic and a crowd pleaser, “Big Red” not only won races but the hearts of all fans in and outside of racing. A major part of Saratoga racing highlights during his career, he was welcomed into the Racing Hall of Fame in 1974 and was one of the first thoroughbreds selected for the Saratoga Hoofprints Walk of Fame in 2013
