Type: Ornament
Price: $15.00

Description

The thirteenth in a collectible series reflecting life in Saratoga. The Congress Park Carousel was originally hand carved by Marcus Charles Illions in 1910. With 28 horses, it is the only two row Illions carousel intact today. In 1987, when Kaydeross Park amusement park closed the carousel was rescued from auction and became a community project as local citizens joined together to raise money and restore the carousel to it's original glory. It opened at it's current location in Congress Park in 2002. This landmark can now be enjoyed by all who live in or visit Saratoga Springs.  The artwork for this collectible was created by Joseph Bell, MD, a Saratoga Springs resident and Saratoga Hospital surgeon.  We sincerely thank you for your purchase and hope that you will continue to collect the new ornament designs each year.
